2. Eligibility

  1. Participants must be at least 18 years old on January 8, 2027 and must present valid, unexpired government-issued photo identification.
  2. Employees, volunteers and sculptors of the Organizer, and members of their households, are not eligible.
  3. Participants must have paid festival admission and be wearing an official wristband.

3. How to Enter

  1. Report to the Challenge Tent between 11:00 AM and 12:15 PM on January 8, 2027. Late entries will not be accepted.
  2. Complete and sign Forms A, B, C and D, which appear at the end of these rules, and hand them to a Festival Official.
  3. One entry per person. Entries are limited to 40 participants, accepted in order of check-in.

4. The Challenge

  1. The Challenge opens at 12:30 PM at the Challenge Pavilion and closes 45 minutes later (the “Challenge Window”).
  2. Each participant is assigned a private, numbered competition stall. Participants may use their stall only during the Challenge Window and only once.
  3. A participant who does not produce a submission within the Challenge Window is recorded as “Did Not Produce” (DNP). A DNP is not a disqualification.
  4. No outside containers, tools or materials may be brought into a stall.

5. Judging

  1. Submissions are assessed in private by the Official Measurer, who will weigh each one on a certified scale to the nearest ounce.
  2. The heaviest submission wins. Ties are broken first by length, then by a vote of the judging panel.
  3. Only the Official Measurer and the judging panel may enter a stall. Spectators are not permitted. All decisions are final.

6. Prizes

First place: the Brown Belt trophy and $250 cash. Second place: $100 cash. Third place: a festival merchandise bundle. Approximate retail value of all prizes: $360. Prizes are not transferable. Winners are responsible for all taxes.

7. Conduct and Safety

  1. Participants must not use laxatives, stimulants, supplements or any other substance intended to induce or increase output. Violation results in immediate disqualification.
  2. Participants must wash their hands before entering and after leaving the stall at the stations provided.
  3. Participants who have a gastrointestinal condition, or who have been advised by a physician not to participate, must not enter. A medical tent is on site, and participants may withdraw at any time without penalty.
  4. Tampering with another participant’s stall, interfering with the Official Measurer, or ignoring instructions from a Festival Official results in disqualification and removal from the Challenge Pavilion.
  5. All submissions become the property of the Organizer and are disposed of by licensed sanitation staff.

8. Release and Publicity

By entering, participants agree to the terms of Forms B and C, including the waiver of liability and the grant of permission to photograph and record the Challenge.

9. General Conditions

The Organizer may cancel, modify or suspend the Challenge for weather, safety or any other reason. These rules are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, and any dispute will be heard in the courts of Richland County.
